Quote for the Day

"Maybe I should be the bologna." Kiki upon falling off of the sandwich of girls on Grammy Pat's kitchen floor. Out of the mouth's of babes.

Summerfest Carnival

Not much for pix - Shelby rode the zipper with Scott - won't do it again. Milana and Ella rode everything they could ride. Kiki rode the carousel - with great apprehension. Bubby watched. Kiki did go to a craft area and is very proud of her sculpture.

Ankeny Summerfest Parade

We spent the morning sitting on the curb in the rain at the parade. Jess and Scott with Shelby, Ella and Brennan, Steff with Mi and Kiki and our friends Julie and David with Gabriel and Julian. Julie's mom Joyce joined us too - on her birthday, no less. What a way to celebrate. It was fun to see them, they are here from New York for Julie (and Libby's) class reunion. The kids all came home with bunches of candy and lots of stuff - I think we got 5 koozies, 2 bags, a frisbee, and two stuffed teddy bears. Enjoy the pics! Aunt Libby - the video clip is a special one for you! I think they are mis-named, but have at it!

Camping in Lena

We took the midweek to camp for a couple of days at the KOA in Lena, IL. Mostly it was swimming and eating. The girls love the pool. Milana swims and Kiki hangs at the edge. She was thrilled to go get the ball and diving sticks when they got tossed out of the pool. She played by the steps - which were the width of the pool. Mi went down the slide as long as she had the ring on. Happy girls! We took time on the jumping pillow too. Even mom - about 5 minutes was what I could handle. My calves cringed after a couple runs up and down. It is probably 30 x 50 feet and about 5 feet high blown up.

May and June Birthdays

May and June birthdays were a quick meal on recital weekend. Ella turned 3, Haley turned 9, Steff turned 41 (nobody took pitures of me!), and Walt turned 71. All four birthdays are within a month!

To the Dinosaurs!

When we went to Chicago, the girls and I took a side trip to the Field Museum to see the dinosaurs. Karen (the sitter), has them all addicted to dinos after a month of studying them at day care. They have done pictures and gone on bone digs and made molds. Archeologist's in the making. So we took the trek one step further to go see Sue - the most complete t-rex skeleton in the world. They bought it at auction in 2000 for an amazing number of millions of dollars. The girls loved the hall of evolution and all of the stuffed animals in the other exhibit. Milana was disappointed that we didn't get to see everything - yeah - she will want to go back! I love going to museums - it will be nice to have the girls on the same mindset. Enjoy a quick snapshot of our trip!

Jay's Graduation Party

Early June we went to Chicago for Jay Dawson's graduation party. The girls had a great time hanging out (and upside down) with Jay. We got to see Nana and Papa, Aunt Tuesday and Uncle Billy and a whole bunch of other people at the party!

Before the Fireworks

We joined our sitter's family for potluck and fun before the fireworks on the 3rd. The kids had a great time playing with everybody on the spillway during the wait time.
